Name: Dr Arthur Bakker
About: Arthur Bakker is a Research Officer at the Institute of Education. At the Knowledge Lab he is working on the Technomaths project with Celia Hoyles, Richard Noss and Phillip Kent.

Before coming to the Knowledge Lab, Arthur worked at the Freudenthal Institute in Utrecht, the Netherlands. He received his doctorate from Utrecht University for 'Design Research in Statistics Education'. He has also participated in several other projects. He was curriculum author for the Tinkerplots project, where statistics software was designed for middle school children. Furthermore, he wrote and revised statistics and probability units for Mathematics in Context (an American curriculum based on the principles of the Dutch theory of Realistic Mathematics Education) and participated in a project on special education.
