The WebLabs project has released the code of its WebReports web-based collaboration system.

WebLabs, directed by Richard Noss and Celia Hoyles, investigated creating new ways of representing and expressing mathematical and scientific knowledge in European communities of young learners (10-14 years). The focus was on collaborative construction, description and interpretation of how things work. Our aim was to transform the web into a medium in which European students collaboratively construct and critique each others' evolving knowledge and working models.

One of the major outcomes of the project is WebReports: a web-based collaboration system which combines model-sharing and knowledge-building. This system was developed to support our learning activities, and with time acquired several other important fuctionalities, such as teacher training and collaborative research support.

The design of the WebReports system inspired and informed some of the tools developed for the Learning Patterns project.

The WebReports system was developed collaboratively with DSV, Sweden.
