itl_2011_research_launch.pngThe findings from the 2011 phase of the ITL Research Project have just been launched at the Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Research Forum in Washington, DC. This is a nine country research project looking the development of innovative teaching and learning in secondary schools. A team from LKL (Carlo Perrotta, John Potter, Neil Selwyn and Carey Jewitt) is responsible for the UK study.

noss.jpgRichard Noss, co-director of the London Knowledge Lab, has been awarded a 2012 Miegunyah Fellowship by the University of Melbourne. Richard will disseminate the findings of the Technology Enhanced Learning Research Programme, which he directs. He will give a public lecture and several specialist seminars and will consult with staff and students on research initiatives that will strengthen collaborative links between UK and Australian researchers in the field of technology-enhanced learning.

MiGenA paper entitled Design of Teacher Assistance Tools in an Exploratory Learning Environment for Algebraic Generalisation by Sergio Gutierrez-Santos, Eirini Geraniou, Darren Pearce-Lazard and Alex Poulovassilis has been accepted to appear in IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies, in a selected set of best papers from the ECTEL'10 conference. The paper describes ground-breaking work undertaken as part of the ESRC/EPSRC MiGen project on developing intelligent tools that support teachers in monitoring students' progress as they are engaged exploratory learning tasks.

It is a free download and is a novel representation of number to encourage young children to explore number patterns. You can find this through 'digicubes' on the app market (iPad only) to download, or YouTube to watch a video.
