Niall Winters has been awarded £20,000 by the Centre for Distance Education for "CoMo: Supporting collaborative group work using mobile phones". Mobile learning and distance education have both benefited from the increasing sophistication of pedagogical practices and technical developments over the last number of years. However, for the most part there has been little research into the inter-relationships between the two communities.

Niall Winters says "The project aims to address the pressing need to develop collaborative group work activities for mobile learners in distance education. In collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College, we intend to focus on how collaborative learning activities can be enhanced through the use of mobile phones and look at the contexts in which this occurs".

This 1-year project will begin on May 1st 2007.
