Two new professors @ LKL: Diana Laurillard and Rose Luckin Print

The London Knowledge Lab welcomes two new professors - Diana Laurillard and Rose Luckin, to chairs of digital technologies and learning.

Professor Laurillard was previously Head of the E-learning Strategy Unit at the DfES, where she had responsibility for the government’s e-strategy for education and skills. Formerly, as professor of educational technology and Pro-Vice Chancellor at the Open University, she worked on transforming the University's approach to teaching and learning through appropriate use of technology. She has carried out research, development and delivery of e-learning at school and university level, in a wide range of subject areas, and is the author of Rethinking University Teaching (2nd edition, Routledge 2001).

Dr Rosemary Luckin is Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Sussex and Director of the Human Centred Technology Research Group and the IDEAs (Interactive Digital Educational Applications) Research Lab. She has been responsible for Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance and Enhancement at Sussex and for the development of their e-learning strategy. Her research interests focus upon Learner Centred Design, Software Scaffolding and the educational potential of new technology, such as digital toys, mobile communication devices and Interactive TV.

Professor Richard Noss, co-director of the LKL, said: “We are delighted with these appointments. They represent a significant step forward in realising the Knowledge Lab's vision to explore the future of learning with digital technologies".
