Harnessing the Power of e-Learning in HE Print
Tuesday, 14 March 2006
In one of the largest live e-learning events in the Southern Hemisphere, LKL's Diana Laurillard will interact with academics at 41 university campuses in Australia and New Zealand on Tuesday, 21st March 2006. The event is co-produced by the University of Adelaide and the LKL.

In a two-hour interactive online event, groups of academics will meet at 30+ 38 (updated) 41 university campuses in Australia and New Zealand and connect via audiographic web conferencing technology with Diana Laurillard in London and each other. Based on her chapter in the recently published book 'Changing Higher Education' (RoutledgeFalmer, edited by Paul Ashwin), Diana will speak about e-Learning in Higher Education, with opportunities for questions from session participants. The second hour will feature local (offline) face-to-face group activities plus a concluding online plenary to capture the full breadth of combined intellectual capacity from hundreds of connected learners.

Multiple Venue Production:
This event represents a 'Multiple Venue Production' (MVP): Face-to-face groups of learners are linked up via the Internet and engage with each other in a blend of face-to-face and online tasks. After the event, a series of podcasts will be produced, giving Diana Laurillard the chance to reply to questions and issues raised during the session.

Organisation:
The event is co-produced by Allan Carrington (Centre for Learning and Professional Development, University of Adelaide) and LKL's Tim Neumann, who will both act as online moderators. The MVP is also integrated in Tim Neumann's research project on teacher roles in virtual classrooms.

We regret that it is not possible for individuals to participate. The time zone issue means that it is not practically feasible for European Institutions to participate. A recording of the event will be published on the LKL website along with follow-up podcasts.
