LKL PhD Students Seminar
In this third session of the current seminar series, we have two presentations, details as follows:
Steven Connolly
Reading for Pleasure - What might a critical literacy of the moving image look like for teachers and students in 2008?
This seminar will introduce some ideas that come out of my data analysis of work that a group of students have done creating digital video projects across a three year period in a London Secondary School. The seminar is concerned with expolring ideas about the way that students being literate in the moving image through both watching and production work, and what we mean when we say that students might be literate in the moving image. There will also be a consideration of the roles of pleasure and popular culture within this idea of literacy, and how pleasure and criticality might both contrast and complement each other in the classroom.
Chua Boon-Liang
Title: "Generalising tasks: Generalisation and Justification of
Secondary School Students and The Impact of eXpresser".
In this work-in-progress presentation, I will outline the research framework and the methodology for the main study of my PhD research. The main research questions will also be raised for discussion.
