Crisis Camp London is one of the international Crisis Camps originally organized in support of Haiti.

The day will be dedicated to working on Crisis Commons projects, hoping to make life easier for people on the ground by doing what we can do from here. Common tasks are programming, working on maps, and helping to gather information from around the web into usable forms.

Please come if you think you can help in any way, even simple things like helping people who are not at the camp keep in touch with what is going on, or keeping the hackers fed-and-watered. There are plenty of tasks anybody can do.

We are actively looking for people to help resource and organize Crisis Camp London. There is a lot to do!

Please bring a laptop if you have one. 3G dongles/MiFi may be very useful. Pens, pencils, paper, anything you need to be productive.

This is a day at the office, saving the world

CrisisCampLdn is part of the international Crisis Commons (http://crisiscommons.org) movement, which was initially
formed to deliver information and systems in response to the Haiti
disaster.
It did this by populating the data sources like Ushahidi and
OpenStreetMap that were used widely in the disaster response on the ground, by providing round-the-world translation services and by creating websites and resources to help this disaster-affected
community to rebuild itself.  In just two months, CrisisCommons has responded to two major disasters (Haiti and Chile), established a worldwide presence and gained the trust of NGO's, charities, government agencies, volunteer professionals and the general public that it will deliver online applications and services to support relief and rebuilding after a crisis.

A significant feature of CrisisCamp is CrisisCamp days: events that bring developers, NGO users and local people together to work in an open and enabling way on the projects and tasks defined as most critical to current disaster relief.  To date, we have held seven Crisis Camp London events
