A talk by: - Professor Jere Confrey, Joseph D Moore Distinguished Professor, Mathematics Education, University of North Carolina, and
- Dr Alan Maloney, Extension Associate Professor of Mathematics Education, University of North Carolina.
This talk, for math educators, assessment specialists and teacher educators discusses the research Professor Confrey and Dr Maloney are conducting to build assessments based on documented studies of student learning based on progressively more sophisticated reasoning on equipartitioning. They show the extent to which they can establish equipartitioning as the foundation to rational number reasoning. They also introduce new meanings of validity as they apply to guiding teachers towards conducting more robust formative assessment practices that seek to link student understanding and discourse. Please note, this seminar is taking place at the Institute of Education, main building, 20 Bedford Way, Level 6. Map and Travel Information |
