 This seminar will explore children's participatory practices in online environments and virtual worlds, and the significance of online environments in enhancing children's participation. Terhi will describe the development of a framework of children's virtual participation, in which participation is seen as social activity and as a process of influence. As well as outlining this framework, the seminar will present results of an ongoing interview-based study of children's use of virtual worlds - exploring how and why children participate in virtual worlds.
