thumb-events_03.pngMaria Costa, a Visiting Fellow at the LKL, will be giving an informal lunchtime seminar on WEDNESDAY 1st June at 12.00-1.30 in the small seminar room.

Maria is Director of the Pedagogical Department, AIJU, Toy Research Institute, in Alicante, Spain. Her PhD is in Philosophy and Learning Sciences (1998). Her research is about pedagogical issues, children's leisure, products and marketing, and she has taught about children's consumption, child development play and toys, educational play, games and new technologies, etc. †She has given technical and pedagogical consultancy for industrial associations, public administrations, and companies in the areas of toys, leisure time, children's products, health, education and consumption, and worked on numerous national and European projects in these areas.

Her presentation will give an overview of her department's work at the Toy Research Institute, discuss recent projects about Toys, Games, Children and Elderly people, and focus particularly on the recent ėNow Generation Project', which maps out children's leisure, consumption, use of technology and health in 7 European countries. The project has also developed guidelines for the development of safer and healthier children's services and products to make them safer and healthier. She will also talk about potential future projects on Children's Social Behaviour, relating specifically to New Technologies, Media and Environment.
