This talk outlines the development of a longitudinal research project (Project 4-21) which, in its final stages, looked at the video diaries made by a group of young women. The project focused on gender and social class, following a group of girls from age 4 to 21. This paper outlines the various issues thrown up by ‘visual data' from the video diaries and raises some of the questions which need to be addressed when it comes to the point of data analysis.
