All programmes and modules are required to have an online presence on the new Bloomsbury Learning Environment (BLE), based on the platform Moodle, from September 2012 onwards.
For details about the minimum requirements for a programme or module site, please see the article:
Student Minimum Entitlement to On-Line Support
Content Migration
To support academics and administrators in getting their programme and module spaces ready for next academic year, the IOE is recruiting temporary staff that will help with any content migration.
This page outlines the content migration plan for moving your current programme/module online presence from Blackboard to Moodle.
Programme leaders were contacted earlier this year to incidate their preferred option how to proceed with the content migration from Blackboard.
The options are outlined below.
- Option A: Start from scratch
You will start with a blank space for each programme and module.
You will upload content (handbooks, handouts, slides, etc.) yourself.
This option is useful for programmes and modules that do not have a complex site on Blackboard, and that do not re-use the same version of any materials year on year.
- Option B: Content migration support
A helper will copy over existing files and texts from Blackboard to Moodle and establish a basic structure.
You might need to reorder resources and update information such as dates, deadlines, etc.
This option is useful for programmes and modules with a complex set of materials and/or a substantial amount of text instructions on Blackboard.
The migration work itself will be carried out in the period from May until August, with a priority on those module spaces that need to be available in the autumn term 2012.
Programme and module spaces will be created in mid June, followed by the start of the actual migration process. Programme teams will be contacted individually when their space is ready or about to be populated.
You will have opportunities to discuss details as to how much and what kind of work will be done by helpers and/or yourself.
Please be aware that digitised resources need to be copyright-cleared every year and therefore must be requested by the library. This includes scanned journal articles and any kind of digitised resources such as book chapters.
