The Institute of Education Degree Awarding Powers and your Award

The Institute of Education was granted taught and research Degree Awarding Powers (DAPs) in 2006. The Institute resolved to effect those powers and award its own degrees (rather than degrees of the University of London) to all Institute of Education students registering from 2008/2009.

Continuing Students: If you are a Master's, PGCE, Foundation Degree or BEd student registered returning in September 2008 and have continued on a taught degree programme and have remained in registration for at least one more academic year after September 2008, you have the option to receive an Institute of Education or a University of London degree. This does not apply, for the time being, to those registered for federal degrees with the University of London.

For further information on Degree Awarding Powers please visit the Institute’s website at www.ioe.ac.uk/studentinformation/27306.html.

Continuing Students please note: Continuing students who fulfil the above criteria will automatically receive a University of London degree certificate if they do not inform us of their choice of award.
